Opening Thoughts:
It’s back to school time. Children are returning
to the classrooms and there is
the hustle and bustle of new routines. Some parents choose
to home school, others
enroll their young ones in private or religious schools
and many others use the
public schooling system.
Regardless of the choices I hope that you take an active
involvement in your children’s education. And adults
should never stop learning. God is constantly revealing
more to us.
Peace and joy,
Tom Gilbert

Living
in the Question
By Tom Gilbert
It is the
most natural thing in the world to wonder and ask
questions.
However, sometime between childhood and adolescence we begin to lose the wondering.
We stop asking so many questions.
Could it be because the answers we’re given are insufficient? Do they
ring hollow? Do those we ask get tired of replying to questions they are ill
equipped to handle? In turn, do we simply stop asking so much because we’re
not getting the answers we want?

DAILY THOUGHTS & REFLECTIONS |
|
What’s
Love Got To Do With It?
"If you love me, show it by doing
what I've told you. The person who knows my commandments and keeps them,
that's who loves me. And the person who loves me will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him and make myself plain to him." (John 14:15, 21 The
Message)
So what did Jesus tell us to do? Did
He say, "Keep yourself separated from the world, have
nothing to do with them for they are sinners. What does
a Christian have in common with sinners?" And did He
say, "Judge those who are different from you and tell
them to ‘get their act together’ before they
try and come to Church?" Did He also say, “make
sure you keep a list of dos and don'ts, learn them well
and act upon them with all diligence daily and ostracize
others who fail to live up to ‘your" standards’?” No!
This is not what Jesus said or did; this does not even sound
anything like Him. But it is how the church has behaved
for centuries.
So what did Jesus really say? Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all
your mind, and all of your soul. And love your neighbor as yourself. All of the
dos and don'ts of the law are completely wrapped up in these two commandments.
He also told us that it's the love we have for each other and the love and compassion
we show others that will show the world that we are His followers.
Jesus' whole life, His whole ministry, was based on love. It is about loving
us and showing us love even when and though we did not and do not deserve it.
We are called to live our lives as Jesus lived His. That is what He meant when
He said, “If you love me, show it by doing what I've told you." He
told us to love.
What are the three most important things for a Christian to do in and with their
life? Love, love, love. Make love the main driving factor in your life and no
matter what you do you will be doing what Jesus wants you to do. So go love like
Jesus!

Quotable: Truth and Holiness
"Sometimes truth is lost first
in a church, and then holiness, and sometimes the decay
or hatred of holiness is the cause of the loss of truth.
But if either is rejected, the other will not abide.”
